YAMOUSSOUKRO: OFFICIAL CLOSING CEREMONY FOR COHORT II OF THE MOYÉ IVORIAN-DUTCH HORTICULTURAL CENTER TRAINING AND INCUBATION PROGRAM
As part of the promotion of agricultural and horticultural innovations for young entrepreneurs, the Minister and Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, Dr. Augustin Thiam, participated on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in the official closing ceremony and presentations of the second cohort of the Moyé Ivorian-Dutch Horticultural Center's training and incubation program, located in Toumbokro.
This important gathering brought together numerous dignitaries, including administrative and political authorities, members of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District Bureau, traditional chiefs, as well as students, farmers, and various stakeholders in the agricultural sector.
At the opening of the ceremony, Dr. Viderot, National Coordinator and Director of the NGO Moyé, welcomed all the guests before presenting the various components of the program. He indicated that this second cohort had trained 45 beneficiaries in the fields of agriculture and horticulture.
On behalf of the trainees, Mr. Philippe Marcel Sama, representative of Cohort II, expressed his deep gratitude to the authorities present for their continued interest in youth, vocational training, and the development of the Ivorian agricultural sector. He also commended the quality of the guidance received throughout the four months of training.
Continuing the presentations, the Deputy Delegate, Ms. Kouassi Aké, showcased the various projects completed by the trainees during their training program. Through a detailed presentation, she highlighted the skills acquired and the importance of modern, innovative, and sustainable agriculture for economic development.
Next, Mr. Joep Van Den Broek, President of the NGO Moyé, expressed his gratitude to the Minister-Governor for his unwavering support of youth initiatives. He also shared the vision of the Moyé Center, which aims to become a regional leader in horticultural training, demonstration, and innovation in West Africa.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister-Governor, Mr. Assoumou, Director of Agriculture for the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, paid a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Augustin Thiam for his vision and leadership in promoting the well-being of the population. He revealed that since the program's launch, 65 students have already benefited from the training provided by the Moyé Center. He also expressed his gratitude to the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and to all the technical and financial partners for their commitment to the success of this initiative.
Dans son allocution, le Directeur de cabinet, monsieur Nouhoun Coulibaly, représentant du Ministre délégué en charge des Cultures vivrières a salué un projet qui s'inscrit pleinement dans la politique du Gouvernement visant à promouvoir l'emploi des jeunes et à moderniser le secteur agricole national.
Pour sa part, l’Ambassadeur du Royaume des Pays-Bas en Côte d’Ivoire a réaffirmé la volonté de son pays d’accompagner les initiatives favorisant l’insertion professionnelle des jeunes et le développement d’une agriculture moderne, compétitive et durable.
La cérémonie s’est poursuivie par l’inauguration officielle de deux nouvelles salles de formation. La première a été baptisée « Salle Docteur Augustin THIAM », en reconnaissance de son engagement en faveur du développement agricole et de la jeunesse. La seconde porte désormais le nom de « Salle Ben Kubbinga et Paulina Kubbinga Krawiecka », en hommage à leur précieuse contribution à l’essor du Centre Moyé.
La cérémonie a pris fin par une photo de famille réunissant les différentes personnalités présentes, immortalisant ainsi un moment de célébration, de reconnaissance et d’espoir pour l’avenir de l’agriculture ivoirienne et de l’entrepreneuriat des jeunes.
