As part of the preparations for the Tabaski festival, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Minister and Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, Dr. Augustin Thiam, presented sheep to the Muslim community, wishing them a blessed celebration.
Those who participated in the ceremony included the Honorable Member of Parliament, Diby Affoué Thérèse, members of the District Council, the Imam of the Grand Mosque, and numerous beneficiaries from various localities.
The ceremony began at the Grand Mosque of Yamoussoukro with an opening prayer led by the Deputy Imam, Mohamed Fofana, to ensure the event proceeded smoothly. On this occasion, the Chief Imam of the Grand Mosque, Seydou Sylla, warmly welcomed the Minister-Governor and his delegation.
As in previous years, the Minister-Governor presented the Muslim community with 80 rams, valued at a total of 10,510,000 FCFA, as indicated by Mr. Kouadio Raphaël, Chief of Staff to the Minister-Governor.
Speaking to the audience, Dr. Augustin Thiam explained that, with the Tabaski festival scheduled for May 27, 2026, he wanted to offer these sheep to enable impoverished families to perform the traditional sacrifice and share a festive meal with joy and dignity.
Deeply pleased with this act of generosity, Imam Seydou Sylla expressed his gratitude to the Minister-Governor for his continued support of the Muslim community. He also offered prayers and blessings for him, his staff, and the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
The distribution of the sheep then continued at the Dougoutigui's residence, where several Muslim faithful from various localities, as well as the Dougoutigui himself, received sheep.
At the end of the ceremony, the recipients expressed their gratitude to the Minister, Governor, for this act of solidarity and generosity, while also offering blessings upon him.
The ceremony concluded in an atmosphere of joy, sharing, and social cohesion.
