WORLD CITIES SUMMIT 2026: DR. AUGUSTIN THIAM IN SINGAPORE TO PROMOTE THE VISION OF YAMOUSSOUKRO SMART CIT
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Singapore, Dr. Augustin Thiam, Minister-Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, participated in the World Cities Summit 2026, one of the world's leading events dedicated to sustainable urban development and innovation in city management.
This summit brought together political leaders, mayors, experts, investors, and development partners from around the globe.
The Minister-Governor's participation is part of the modernization drive undertaken by the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District and reflects the authorities' commitment to making the Ivorian political capital a smart, sustainable, and competitive city, meeting the demands of 21st-century development.
During this international meeting, Dr. Augustin Thiam participated in several high-level sessions focusing on smart cities, digital transformation, urban resilience, sustainable infrastructure, smart mobility, and innovative solutions aimed at improving the quality of life for the population.
For the Minister-Governor, the World Cities Summit represents a unique opportunity to learn about global best practices in urban governance and to strengthen the partnerships necessary to achieve the development ambitions of the Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro.
“Our ambition is to position Yamoussoukro as an African benchmark for smart cities, capable of combining technological innovation, sustainable development, and the well-being of its population. The experiences presented in Singapore are a significant source of inspiration for accelerating this transformation,” emphasized Dr. Augustin Thiam.
The Smart City theme occupies a central place in the development agenda of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District. Through its participation in this summit, the Ivorian delegation intends to identify innovative solutions likely to improve the management of urban services, mobility, the environment, security, energy efficiency, and local governance.
On the sidelines of the summit, the Minister-Governor is scheduled to hold several meetings with institutional leaders, local authorities, companies specializing in urban technologies, and technical and financial partners, with a view to exploring new opportunities for cooperation and investment.
By attending the World Cities Summit 2026, Dr. Augustin Thiam reaffirms the commitment of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District to participate in major international initiatives for innovation and sustainable development, with the goal of building a modern, attractive, and forward-looking capital.
