ECO-CIR FORUM ABIDJAN 2023
The 1st edition of the ECO-CIR FORUM takes place in Abidjan from October 18 to 21, 2023 and has the theme: “The circular economy for sustainable development of territories in Africa”. The Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro was represented by the Director of Cabinet of the Minister Governor, Mr. André Martin KAKOU and a stand led by Mr. Jean Pierre Assoumou, Director of Agriculture and his team for this purpose. The opening speech was given by the sponsor, Mr. Jacques ASSAHORE, Minister of the Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition, representing Mr. Robert Beugré MAMBE, Prime Minister, head of government, Minister of Sports and Management of life. At the initiative of the Autonomous District of Abidjan, this Forum aims to explain to the greatest number of Ivorians what the Circular Economy is and to create opportunities for different social strata in order to better understand and adopt these new economic concepts. The quantity of waste produced by the population is around 400,000 tonnes, including 16% dry waste (plastic, paper, textile, glass, metals), 68% organic waste and 16% inert material. The recovery of this dry and organic waste could, by applying the concepts of the Circular Economy, generate a gain of several hundred billion FCFA in turnover each year. The circular economy is a growing concept around the world. Its objective is to contribute to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This Forum should allow exchanges of experiences in terms of good practices, between the different participating countries, with a view to mutual enrichment.
