International conference on Houphouetism at the Félix Houphouët Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace, this Monday, October 16, 2023.

The inaugural conference was attended by our officials, the Regional Prefect, Prefect of the Department of Yamoussoukro, Mr. Coulibaly Gando, the Minister Governor Augustin THIAM, represented by his advisor Mr. Anon Léopold, the Mayor of the Commune of Yamoussoukro, represented by his first Deputy, Mr. Baba Sylla, the Rector of the Basilica, Father Franck Allatin, Mr. Jean-Noël Loukou, Secretary General of the FHB Foundation, Mr. Niamkey Koffi, President of the scientific committee of the conference.

As part of the testimony, Ministers Gervais Kacou and Jean-Claude Delafosse spoke. Mr. Anon Léopold then took the floor to speak on behalf of the traveling Minister Governor to say that Houphouët Boigny was a great man. His attendance was a lifelong lesson. It was enough to watch him live, walk, dress, observe his silences, listen to him speak. Houphouët left us a message of unity, discipline and work, which we had not always known, understood or transmitted. Finally, he asked everyone to pray so that our political leaders end up agreeing, and coming together on what brings them together and not fighting, on what divides them for the greatest happiness of the Ivorians. , and for the future of Côte d'Ivoire.

This conference will extend over three (03) days and has as its object: "L'Houphouétisme" a neologism coined to designate the thought, the nation, the work and the considerable legacy of Felix Houphouët Boigny, first President of the Republic of Coast of ivory.

Today Houphouétisme is accepted by all. It will therefore be a question of advancing scientific reflection and identifying the philosophical and political content of L'Houphouétisme. Is it current and would it provide the instruments for operating on the realities of our society in its current configuration?

It is on all these questions that Ivorian research professors, students from universities in Ivory Coast and participants from sister countries, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal, Togo, Canada, Switzerland will lead an open and in-depth reflection.
